PARIS XIII - VILLETANEUSE UNIVERSITY

Context

The PARIS XIII VILLETANEUSE University was left in a neglected and unfinished state due to the government's withdrawal of a Parisian subway line. In its initial urban planning project, the subway line was supposed to have been extended up to the University campus.

Project

As part of the University 2000 program, the Arcane Group won the competition for the construction of a building regrouping 1200 lecture hall seats as well as student service offices. Due to urgent need, construction was completed in a record four months.

The building was designed to take into account the development of the area where the university is located. It integrates with the general flow on two levels of the existing whole opening a new West end entrance and a strong East West axis. This new axis joins the two most natural entrances to the grounds, and at the existing North-South crossing generates a new dimension in the heart of the University. Following its inception, the Groupe Arcane was asked by the University management to establish the basis for a development plan. This was modified and adapted, and implemented by Christian DEVILLIERS.
