Context

Domont is a small city of 12 000 inhabitants, located in the outer suburbs in the North of Paris. This city wanted to insert their high school into a new district, attached to the city. The Groupe Arcane was given the task of developing the entire social housing project for this new district.


 

Project

We constructed 180 dwellings, inserting them on the edge of the main axis of the new urban development. With their angles and facades, the buildings outlined three interior, open spaces leading onto the pedestrian walkways which link the city together.

The ensemble, low in height (three stories above ground level), presents an ordered brick architecture on the district's central axis, integrating a continuous linear array of shops at ground level. On the opposite facade, in front of a pedestrian walkway, this architecture unites brick and plaster in a more varied and familiar composition.
