TREMBLAY-EN-FRANCE : 63 DWELLINGS
SAGE

1992

Context

The city of Tremblay-en-France is located in the northeast of Paris near the Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport. Until the beginning of the 80's, Tremblay-en-France was essentially composed of a large newly built area in the midst of an old rural village : " the old country ". After building the Town Hall, the Municipality decided to create a genuine town center in the heart of this newly built area. The Groupe Arcane won a competition to build half of the dwellings, and another competition to construct the cultural center.

Project

Constructed along sloping streets, these 240 dwellings converge towards the Town Hall and the cultural center. Many of them have shops integrated at ground level as well as public facilities. The architecture takes its inspiration from the specific character of each street, which in turn was defined by the planning director of the new city center. For example, a rectilinear street opens onto views of the city center and the Town Hall, and a waving street with curved smooth facades highlights its stone facing. The rental housing is under the ownership of " LA SAGE ", a company with a combined economy from the city. The home ownership housing was built for the account of the advertising agency " LA SERGIM ".
